The Super Bowl is a big day for football fans and partygoers alike. It is a day known for hot dogs, chilies and chips. Where there are chips, of course, there must be dips. Instead of indulging in the usual fattening fare, why not try some healthy dip alternatives.

Fresh and fast guacamole
2 large, ripe avocados
1 tablespoon of fresh chopped cilantro
1 tablespoon fresh parsley
¼ cup chopped onion
1-2 jalapenos (substitute serranos if you want more heat)
1 chopped roma tomato
Juice of one lime (about 2 tablespoons)
2 cloves of garlic
coarse salt to taste
fresh ground pepper to taste

Mash the avocadoes with a fork, leaving it a little chunky. Fold in remaining ingredients.

Greek Yogurt Garden Dip
1 clove garlic, minced
2 cups plain, Greek-style yogurt
1 tablespoon fresh minced chives
1 tablespoon fresh oregano
1 tablespoon fresh Italian parsley
1 tablespoon fresh dill
coarse salt to taste
fresh ground pepper to taste
juice from one lemon

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Serve with vegetable chips or crudités.
